Climate change, desertification and drought

Creating the climate for participation and justice

Climate change id the greatest environmental threat whch faces humanity.  The goernments are slowly “negotiating” how to confront this serious situation.  And it is for this reason that they will meet next December in Copenhagen to define agreements to reduce CO2 emissions, a principle cause of global warming.

Chile,  considered to be one of the most vulnerable countries to glocal warming, should recognize and demand payment for exological and climatic debts.  Chile should insist that structural causes of the glocal crisis be confronted, and reject false solutions, which promote the same unsustainable model of development responsablefor the crisis and continue giving strength to an unjust international order.

It is in this vein that the increase and strengthening of our country’s position through a unified society is indispensible.  This position should take into accout those causes which have caused climate chage: exploitation of fossil feuls, deforestation and energy projects. The mechanizms through whic these projects are financed and sustained are the debt and agreements of free commerce; and the repression of communities which oppose these said projects, which are threatening their local economies and lifestyles.

Now is the moment to take part and demand justice.
